IT'S ANOTHER SUNDAY - FIREFLIES KAMPUNG KUANTAN

Another Sunday for me and my husband. The intention just to get some Malay kuih this Sunday evening takes us to drive through Batang Berjuntai or now known as Bestari Jaya. And of course I won't be leaving home without my camera!
We drove through the old road (from Batu Arang to Selangor fruit Valley, Batang Berjuntai).
 Selangor Fruit Valley

We kept on driving until we reached the town (Bestari Jaya)...Got some banana fritters. (5 pieces - RM1). Had drinks (Teh Tarik) at one Indian Muslim restaurant. Still never had any plan to something! :-)
Clock shows 6.30 pm. Done with "Teh Tarik"...we continued driving until we got this idea...!
My husband saw a signboard...KLIP KLIP Kampung Kuantan.
However, we couldn't find the way in..The sign shows --> (to the right). So, we decided to drive back and make a U-turn.  Since that it 's a very straight road and moreover, many cars behind us (Chinese New Year eve...drivers were speeding...probably for their dinner - "Makan Besar")...we had difficulty to make a U-turn..After a while, we saw one right turn...and my husband made a turn there..This is where we made a U-turn...

At around 7.25pm (close to Magrib), we reached this unplanned Sunday destination...Kampung Kuantan for fireflies.

We performed Magrib prayer before we get to the compound. (The mosque is located next to the fireflies park).  Then, get the ticket: RM40 for one boat.
Logically, RM10 per head. Of  course, people may go there with family. So, by norm, you will get one boat for RM40. And for both of us - since that we decided for some privacy, we took one boat too. You can actually share with other couple...if you are OK with that.

We waited for about half and hour before we got close to the jetty. There, we were given life jacket for safety.

Preparing to get to the boat.

Souvenir - all are lighting-based toys.

You can take a look at these or probably purchase some for your loved ones.

Yesss!! ...you are strictly have to follow this!

...and this too!

The moment...
...at the jetty.
The jetty.
They must have enjoyed this!
...go sailing...!

You can watch a documentary...all about fireflies here.

The person in charge ...sharing information about fireflies.

A video presentation - also provided.

Pamphlet - for info.
Ohh...this one...
He's taking care of mini mart there. We bought ice-cream...:-)

What we can say...WOW!
Can't really imagine this...it's not just the amazing of these God's creation- beautiful fireflies BUT what most exciting and made us feel so much excited is the sailing in the dark. Additional value to it...a romantic silent night sailing!
Moreover...the pakcik who sails our boat is very friendly..he also shared stories of Kampung Kuantan and its fireflies. He also suggested to come during week days - for longer sailing time!

Info: These beautiful glowing in the dark bugs can be best seen after Magrib (7.15pm) until around 9pm.

  1. For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move; to feel the needs and hitches of our life more nearly; to come down off this feather-bed of civilization, and find the globe granite underfoot and strewn with cutting flints.
