I've been cooking this dish for years (for my younger brother) but never thought that it is one of the delicious meals cooked by me until I got married. I cannot take squid due to my sinus..therefore, I just cooked and never tasted it. The recipe is from my mom. My mom cooks very well.
Until one day, I cook this simple dish for my husband as his favorite's is also squid, only than I found that this very easy and simple dish is delicious as he loves it so much.
Here is the recipe:
- Clean your squids and marinate them in salt and turmeric (Let them rest for 10 minutes).
- Ingredients:
- Onions, garlic, ginger,
- Cili padi, red chilly and tomato (fruit),
- 2 teaspoons tamarind,
- soy sauce,
- salt,
- sugar.
- Ingredients to be fried:
- Slice onions (1 big one will do), garlic (2 cloves) and also 1/2 cm ginger.
- Slice "cili padi" (the small spicy green chilly) and red chilly.
- Okay, now you are ready to cook.
- Fry the squids until it turns brownish.
- Move the squids from the pan.
- Now,with the leftover cooking oil in the pan, fry your onions, garlic and sliced ginger.
- Then, put in back the pan the fried squid.
- Add 2 teaspoons tamarind paste (you can buy the one ready in bottle).
- Add soy sauce, salt and sugar to taste.
- Finally, put in the sliced Chilies and cut tomato.
- And ready to serve.
You can serve with plain white rice.
Happy Cooking!!!
