Easy Scone Recipe
My scones served with strawberry jam. |
Ingredients
- 1 cup (coffee cup) of self raising flour (if you don't have self raising flour, you can use a normal wheat flour but add in 3/4 teaspoon of baking powder)
- A pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup of cold butter (you need lots of butter ;), help your scones to have flaky surface)
- 2 table spoons of caster sugar (depends on how sweet you want your scone to be)
- 1/4 cup of raisins
- 1/2 cup of milk (if the dough is too soft, you can always add in more flour)
- 1 egg yolk (to glaze on top of the scones)
Preparation method
- Make sure your oven is at 220C.
- Spray your baking tray with corn oil spray (you can get it from the store)
- Mix together the flour, sugar and salt. Then, add in butter to the flour mixture (rub the butter with the mixture until all the flour mixture blend nicely with the butter). Add in raisins too.
- Pour in the milk, stir until you form the mixture into a dough, once it is done, pat the dough into 2cm thick.
- You can then cut the dough into your preferred pattern and size, then place all the scones on to the baking tray.
- Brush the tops of the scones with the beaten egg yolk.
- Bake your scones for about 15 minutes until well risen and golden.
- You can serve your scones with butter and jam.
